MY SON RYAN WHOS 8 GOT AUTISM

my son ryan got mild autism we found out he had it at the age of 2 . as he would not say no words at all . and it was a little worrying so i made a doctors appomeint and then they said he had it i was in shock my self .hes such a loveing little boy in his own little world . and hes come on loads .hes got Problems with language and communication . as cant say many things .hes delayed in toilet training / no road sence at all / cant dress his self but he do tend to help / fussy with most foods / loves music / needs help to shower and wash / hes very mobile in his self / gets a little tired when walking to far /Not be able to understand gestures, facial expressions, or tone of voice. Odd mannerisms such as hand-flapping dose this most times . he likes to give cuddles all the time . and he attends a speacil needs school witch is a big help to him . and hes made new friends .as he really loves school . in school hes 1 to 1 .hes useing pecs at the moment to help to show people what he needs im really happy with him . and hes so good with his little sister whos 9months old on the 10th april . as he calls her cerhys and he says a few other words like mum /daddy / bye /night night / pee pee / poo poo / parrot / and other things . he counts from 1 too 10 . and he says colours . so hes comeing on slowly . i love him with all my heart and soul . as the doctors said he will never be able to talk . so to me every days a bonus .hes not a big fan of food shopping or going in to most shops as its 2 noisey ..... he likes to feed the ducks and go 2 the parks sometime when hes in his good mood . likes 2 play on his consoles and lission to his music xx

He sounds lovely and dont worry these kids surprise you when you atleast expect it.
I had the same problems (toileting, getting dressed) with my two boys and mornings used to be a battlefield.
I changed my approach and went nearly completely visual. I used "Toileting" charts and "Getting dressed" charts . These, a timer, a reward chart and the cloths laid out in sequence from left to right can work wonders with a bit of practice. It looks like a lot of work but if you can help them to gain a little more independents its time and effort well spent.
Today I still have to lay out the cloths but no timers or charts are needed anymore. I used to take me hours to get them ready, now it take 2 minutes.
Timers and rewards are your friends, use them shamelessly

Aww hun hugs sounds like he is getting there hun my sisters boy has Autism as well but he is older think he is either 7 or 8yrs now but he all so has ADHD as well so she has her hands full.
